Project Overview

Nissan Armada — Full Paint Correction in Houston TX

The Nissan Armada is a large, full-size SUV — and more surface area means more opportunity for paint defects to accumulate. A full paint correction on an Armada covers a significant amount of bodywork: long hood, wide quarter panels, tall rear liftgate, and large door panels on both sides. The result, when done correctly, is a transformation that's visible from a distance — an SUV that looks freshly painted rather than worn from years of driving and washing.

This Armada came in with the condition typical of a large SUV that has been maintained but not professionally corrected: swirl marks across all panels from automated wash systems, some oxidation on the roof and hood from UV exposure, and general loss of clarity in the clear coat. The 24 project photos — our second-most-detailed documentation set — show the vehicle at each stage of the correction process.

Paint correction on a large vehicle like the Armada is a significant time investment. Doing it right requires working through each panel completely rather than doing a quick once-over on the full vehicle. Our process doesn't cut corners on large vehicles — the same standard of correction that applies to a sedan applies to a full-size SUV.

Fresh Paint corrects all Nissan models — Altima, Maxima, Murano, Pathfinder, Armada, Frontier, Titan — at our Houston shop. Call for a free consultation and paint condition assessment.

How We Approach This Work

The technical details behind what you see in the gallery below.

Correcting Large Vehicles — No Shortcuts

A full-size SUV like the Armada has roughly twice the body panel surface area of a mid-size sedan. A proper correction on a vehicle this size is a full-day job — not something that can be rushed through in a few hours. We commit the time needed to work each panel correctly, which is why the Armada documentation runs to 24 photos. Large vehicle or small, the standard of work doesn't change.

Roof and Hood Oxidation — Houston UV Damage

Houston's climate is hard on automotive paint. Intense summer UV exposure, combined with heat, causes clear coat oxidation faster than in cooler climates. The Armada's roof and hood showed the characteristic hazy oxidation of a Houston vehicle — a cloudiness in the clear coat caused by UV degradation of the clear coat's UV inhibitors. Correcting this requires a cutting compound aggressive enough to remove the oxidized layer, not just a polish.

Automated Car Wash Damage

The swirl marks visible on this Armada were caused primarily by automated car washes — the spinning brush and cloth systems that are convenient but damaging to paint. Every pass through an automatic wash adds fine circular scratches to the clear coat. Over years of washing, these accumulate into the visible swirl pattern that robs paint of its depth and clarity. Correction removes these accumulated scratches from the clear coat surface.

Quarter Panels and Body Lines

The Armada's rear quarter panels and body lines required careful attention during correction. Body lines — the raised character lines that run along the length of the vehicle — are easy to cut through during aggressive machine polishing because the clear coat is thinner on these raised edges. Our correction process uses hand polishing or a smaller backing plate on these areas to maintain control and avoid thinning the clear coat at the edges.

Door and Pillar Jambs

A complete correction includes the door jambs and pillar surfaces that are visible when the doors are open. These areas are often ignored in quick details and corrections, but they're visible every time someone enters or exits the vehicle. We include all door jamb surfaces in our correction process so the vehicle looks consistent inside and out, not just across the exterior body panels.
