Red Chevrolet Full Paint Restoration — Houston TX

This Red Chevrolet restoration project is one of our most thoroughly documented jobs to date — 93 photos covering every stage of a complete exterior paint restoration, from initial teardown and rust treatment through final polishing and delivery. When the vehicle arrived at our Houston shop, it carried years of sun damage, faded sections on the hood and roof where UV had burned through the clear coat, and early rust at the door bottom seams. The owner wanted a show-quality finish that would last — and that's exactly what this project delivered.

This isn't a quick respray. A job like this demands every step done in sequence, with adequate cure times between stages and no shortcuts on surface preparation. What makes Fresh Paint different isn't just skill — it's process discipline. The same structured approach we used on this Chevy is what every vehicle in our shop receives, whether it's a daily driver or a concours-level restoration.

If you own a Chevrolet Silverado, Camaro, Corvette, Malibu, or any Chevy model in the Houston area, this gallery is a real-world example of what a factory-level paint restoration looks like when it's done properly. We serve all makes and models across Houston, Katy, Sugar Land, Pearland, Pasadena, and the surrounding communities.

The Restoration Process

How We Approached This Chevy Restoration

Every decision in a quality paint restoration is driven by what the metal and existing finish need — not by what's fastest. Here's how this project unfolded.

Initial Assessment & Damage Documentation

The Chevy arrived with UV damage concentrated on the horizontal panels — hood, roof, and trunk lid — where direct sun exposure had burned through the aging clear coat. Door seam areas showed surface rust that had developed as moisture worked its way into small chips and edge cracks. All damage was photographed, measured, and logged before we touched anything.

Paint Removal & Rust Treatment

Failing clear coat and base were removed from all affected panels. Rust at the door seams and lower edges was treated — chemically converted where possible, and ground back to clean bare metal where the rust had progressed too far for surface treatment alone. Every rust-affected area received rust encapsulant before primer was applied. This step is what separates a 10-year paint job from a 2-year one.

Priming, Block Sanding & Sealing

High-build urethane primer was applied in multiple coats and allowed to fully cure. Block sanding by hand — panel by panel — brought every surface to a perfectly flat, even substrate. Any low spots were filled, re-primed, and re-sanded. This is the most labor-intensive stage of any restoration, and it's what makes the final finish look truly flawless rather than just glossy. A finish can only be as flat as the surface it's applied to.

Color Matching & Booth Respray

The factory red color was scanned and adjusted for the vehicle's current state. The custom-matched basecoat was applied in our climate-controlled spray booth in precise, overlapping passes to ensure uniform color and metallic orientation. Multiple clear coat passes followed, building the film thickness needed for real UV durability in the Houston climate — because this Chevy was going to spend its life back outside in the Texas sun.

Wet Sanding & Multi-Stage Polish

After full cure, the clear coat was wet-sanded to remove any surface texture, then polished through a three-stage machine polishing process — heavy cut, medium cut, and fine glaze — to achieve the depth and gloss you see in the final gallery photos. The finish was then inspected under high-intensity lighting at multiple angles before the vehicle was signed off for delivery.

Final QC, Detailing & Delivery

The completed vehicle was fully detailed — glass cleaned, rubber and trim treated, and a final wipe-down with a finishing spray to bring out maximum depth in the red. The owner received a full set of before-and-after photos and a written condition report. The repair is backed by our 1-year labor warranty, and we're available for any follow-up questions after delivery.
